Best fielders in IPL 7

We have written about best bowlers and batsmen in the Indian Premier League but it’s high time we start paying importance to fielders as well. The latest edition of the cash rich league saw some mesmerizing fielders’ efforts from the cricketers. From diving around, to brilliant catches, the commitment level was of top class. Let’s take a look at the best fielders of the seventh season.

Kieron Pollard (Mumbai Indians)
He was the best fielder by a big margin in the last edition of the Indian Premier League. Pollard was a nightmare for big six hitters as he converted sure sixes into wickets and turned the entire game into his team’s favor with his athletic fielding. The 6 foot 5 inch player took the best catch of the tournament. His catch against the Rajasthan Royals to dismiss the big-hitting Kevon Cooper was unbelievable.

Mitchell Starc (Royal Challengers Bangalore)
The common believe is that fast bowlers are not good fielders but Mitchell Starc is exception. He is 6.5 tall but boy he was at his best for his IPL franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore. He took two stunning catches against Kings XI Punjab in the UAE leg of the cash rich league. His back-to-back catches of Wriddhiman Saha (2) and Maxwell (6) were a treat to watch. Apart from these catches, he was superb in the ground fielding as well. It is hard for such a tall guy to dive near the boundary ropes but Starc was phenomenal.

Ravindra Jadeja (Chennai Super Kings)
Chennai Super Kings is a great fielding side because of the presence of fielders like Ravindra Jadeja. He is a great asset for any captain and he proved this again in the recently concluded edition. Jadeja was deadly accurate with his throws while he made excellent saves in the inner circle as well as near boundary ropes. His good catching skills were at display throughout the tournament and he made them look very easily.

Ajinkya Rahane (Rajasthan Royals)
He was the Wall of China for Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League. It was next to impossible to breach him at covers and point. Ajinkya Rahane took some stunning catches, which were travelling at a bullet speed in point region. His diving was simply perfect as he save guaranteed boundaries on a frequent basis. Rahane was the lifeline of Royals fielding in the cash rich league.

Suresh Raina (Chennai Super Kings)
This little dynamo was one of the most electrifying fielders for Chennai Super Kings in the recently conclude edition of the league. His numerous dives, long and high catches under the lights and conversion of twos into ones was the highlight of his fielding. Suresh Raina is tailor made for success in the fielding department and he along with Jadeja made CSK’s fielding the best in the T20 league.

AB de Villiers (Royal Challengers Bangalore)
They had Virat in the team but he missed out on few catches while his fielding was also not upto the mark but AB de Villiers was impressive as always.  His dives and presence of mind save quite a few runs for Royal Challengers Bangalore in each and every game. No matter where he was placed by his captain, the batsmen never took a chance on his throw.

Special Mention
David Warner (Sunrisers Hyderabad) and Steven Smith (Rajasthan Royals) tried their best in the fielding department and was involved in crucial saves and tough catches but the above mentioned names stood above all as far fielding is concerned.
